Whether you are a first time gun owner looking to learn how to shoot a gun safely or a seasoned gun owner looking to take a course to improve your skills or satisfy the training requirements of a licensing agency, we offer NRA Training courses to fit your needs.
We keep our classes small because we are focused on quality instruction and safety! Our goal it to ensure that no matter how new or old shooting is to you, you will be better after having taken one of our courses!
When you take a class with us you aren't just a student, you become a client, and we remain ready to help you any way we can. Many of our students come back and take more classes, come shoot when we have range time available, or reach out to us when they have questions in the future. We are always here to help!
This is an NRA CCW Course that includes all of the required classroom and range hours to satisfy the new NY State training requirements as established by the NYS DCJS on August 23, 2022 (https://troopers.ny.gov/system/files/documents/2022/08/final-nysp-dcjs-minimum-standards-for-firearm-safety-training-8-23-22.pdf) . Upon successful completion of this course students will receive two certificates: 1 - The certificate required by your County Licensing Officer to satisfy the 16 = 2 Hour training requirement for your Concealed Carry License applications and 2 - An NRA CCW Course completion certificate that can be used to apply for non-resident pistol licenses in Florida and/or Connecticut. This course has been reviewed and will be accepted by Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester and NYPD for concealed carry permit applications. Call or Contact Us below to check current course availability.

FIREARMS TRAINING AGREEMENT
Release, Waiver, Indemnification, Hold Harmless, Acknowledgement, and Assumption of Risk
Whereas, in consideration of being permitted to attend a course for instruction in firearms and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, Student agrees to the following:
Student agrees to indemnify, hold harmless and defend Scott McInnes, LLC / DBA Great Shot Consulting (Including Scott McInnes, all employees, agents, and/or assistants) hereinafter referred to collectively or individually as “Instructor”, from any and all fault, liabilities, costs, expenses, claims, demands, or lawsuits arising out of, related to or connected with Student’s presence at and/or participation in the course of instruction; the use of instruction in the future; the discharge of firearms by Undersigned, Undersigned’s presence on or use of the range, building, land, and premises (“Premises”); and, any and all acts or omissions of Student. Student furthermore waives for himself/herself and for his/her executors, personal representatives, administrators, assignees, heirs and next of kin, any and all rights and claims for damages, losses, demands and any other actions or claims whatsoever, which he/she may have or which may arise against Instructor (including but not limited to the death of Student and/or any and all injuries, damages or illnesses suffered by Student or Student’s property), which may, in any way whatsoever, arise out of, be related to or be connected with: the course of instruction; the Premises, including any latent defect in the Premises; Student’s presence on or use of said Premises; Student’s property (whether or not entrusted to Instructor); and the use of ammunition and discharge of firearms. Instructor shall not be liable for, and Student, on behalf of himself/herself and on behalf of his/her executors, personal representatives, administrators, assignees, heirs, and next of kin, hereby expressly release the Instructor from any and all such claims and liabilities.
Student hereby expressly assumes the risk of taking part in the course for instruction in firearms and taking part in the activities on the Premises, which include, but are not limited to, instruction in the use of firearms, the discharge of firearms and the firing of live ammunition.
Student hereby acknowledges and agrees that any laws or statutes that are taught, reviewed, or discussed as part of this class are not conveyed as legal advice. Student furthermore hereby acknowledges and agrees that it is their sole responsibility to fully read, become familiar with, and comply with, all of the laws, statutes, and regulations, that any municipality or agency in which they reside or carry a firearm, including those that may or may not have been reviewed in this class. In New York, those laws include, but are not limited to: The NY State Concealed Carry Improvement Act (CCIA), Firearm safe storage requirements as defined in Penal Law §§ 265.45 and 265.50, general firearm secure storage and transportation best practices, State and federal gun laws, including the possession disqualifiers under 18 U.S.C. § 922(g) and New York State law, restrictions on the private sale or transfer of firearms under New York General Business Law § 898, requirements for keeping firearm license information up to date, properly registering pistols and revolvers, license recertification and, if applicable, renewal requirements, including but not limited to the provision set forth in Articles 265 and 400 of the Penal Law. The statutorily defined sensitive places listed in Penal Law § 265.01-e and the restrictions on firearm possession in restricted places under Penal Law § 265.01-d. Use of deadly physical force, including the circumstances in which deadly physical force may be considered justified, and when there is the duty to retreat pursuant to Penal Law § 35.15(2).
Student hereby acknowledges and agrees that Student has read this instrument and understands it terms and is executing this instrument voluntarily. Student furthermore hereby acknowledges and agrees that he/she has read, understands and will at all times abide by all range rules and procedures and any other rules and procedures stated by the Instructor.
Student expressly agrees that this instrument is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by law and that if any provision of this instrument is held invalid or otherwise unenforceable, the enforceability of the remaining provisions shall not be impaired thereby. No remedy conferred by any of the specific provisions of this instrument is intended to be exclusive of any other remedy, and each and every remedy shall be cumulative and shall be in addition to every other remedy now or hereafter existing at law or in equity or by statue or otherwise. The election of any one or more remedy hereunder by the Instructor shall not constitute any waiver of Instructor’s right to pursue other available remedies. This instrument binds Student and his/her executors, personal representatives, administrators, assignees, heirs and next of kin.
Student has been informed of all risks involved and they voluntarily agree to the terms and conditions stated above.

ITAR (International Traffic In Arms Regulations) is a set of Federal regulations generated by the State Department stemming from the Arms Export Control Act of 1976.
ITAR restricts training given to non-US Persons.
US Persons are US citizens (both natural-born, and naturalized immigrants) and Permanent Resident Aliens
Current NRA policy is:
“Under federal law, certain non-U.S. citizens are prohibited from participating in this course. Only non-U.S. citizens who are: (1) lawful permanent residents (e.g., green card holders), (2) refugees, or (3) individuals who have been granted asylum may participate in this course.”
When you register for one of our courses you will receive an invoice through Square-up for the class, which will include a request for deposit to hold your seat. While we understand life happens, please know that we keep our classes small so cancellations matter. If you need to cancel, and we can refill your seat, we are happy to give you a credit towards a future class within the next twelve months. If we can't fill your seat, we will not be able to issue you a refund or credit. We also maintain the highest levels of safety in our courses and failure to follow instructions, or creating a hazard to yourself or others during a class or on the range, will result in your removal from a course, with no refund or credit. We appreciate your understanding.
